Finally...a house tour!

I've been wanting to do a house tour since we moved in the house and I'm just now getting around to it. Which I guess is okay because the house feels like it is almost done! Isn't that the best feeling ever?!?!
So to start our house tour I'm going to start in the entry way...not the front of the house with our amazing HUGE porch because I don't really feel like getting dressed to go take pictures. And I want to use new photos for this tour. I'll get to it eventually.

Sooooo anywho. Here is our entry way.

I bought a bunch of Ikea frames to do a gallery wall in our hallway and ended up using them here instead. Most of the stuff used here we already had on hand.

The welcome sign was a $6 find at Ross a few years ago. The star candle holder is from Hobby Lobby around Christmas time. The celebrate frame is from Target.

The canvas print was a cheap & easy DIY! I ordered a 16x20 print from Walgreens and then modge podged it onto the canvas. It's a little pixulated but not too noticeable. The frame with keys are all our old keys from our apartments in NE, GA and TX. The coordinates is the exact location where we got married.

The owl key holder used to be burnt orange and lived in my Granny's downstairs bathroom that is still awesomely decorated in '70's style! The map is of Pine Bluff Arkansas where my husband and I met.

Our initials framed is my favorite thing on the wall! Just cheap letters from Hobby Lobby that I spray painted and hung on the wall with velcro and the white frame is also from Hobby Lobby.

Now if you turn to the left when you walk in the door you see the dining room.

We hardly ever use this room buttt I love how bright and airy it is! The chairs need to be painted and stained. Hopefully one day that will get done.

Tomorrow we will look at the guest room and guest bath!
So stay tuned. :]

This is H A L L O W E E N

Sooooooo it's spooky season!
I love Halloween.
I love decorating and dressing up.
This year was fun to decorate since it's our first time in this house.
Luckily I had enough decorations to get by without buying anything new!

Our mantel was so much fun to decorate!
I just realized to show you all of the Halloween decor
I would have to actually take photos of it all....
and I'm feeling lazy. So not happen today.

Buttttt I will show you our costumes.
We went to a party at a couple from our small groups house.
Adam was Carl (the old man) from up.
And I was Kevin (the bird)

The costumes were pretty easy to make/buy for.
For Carl:
Glasses
Bow tie
Balloons
Suspenders
Jacket
Total: About $22

For Kevin:
 6 yards of tulle
Blue tee shirt
Peacock feathers
Total: About $20

It was such a fun night!
And we won best costume!!!!!

But let's not forget Bentley...
He's a pumpkin again.
He won't wear the hood part of the costume
and he only enjoys wearing this
so he can roll around attacking it trying to get it off.

My Tinker Bell Pumpkin!

Happy Halloween!

Ambition pays off!

This weekend we got very ambitious and tackled a few projects we were planning to put off for awhile. I fell in love with a white dresser from Ikea months ago. At $300 I knew we would have to wait to buy it. I initially wanted to have it in our bedroom but didn't want to wait till we had the spare money to get that one I wanted. So we bought a dresser or Craigslist for $100! It was broken and messed up in places but I was okay with that. With FOUR coats of white paint and a couple coats of sealer it was looking okay at best. It's still in our bedroom and for the most part I'm happy with it. Eventually I'm sure I will decide to repaint it. Anyway, fast forward to now and last week while I was babysitting and the baby was sleeping I was searching Craigslist just 'window shopping' and I found the dresser I fell in love with months ago!! AND it was only $100!!!!! SCORE! So I emailed them and talked my husband into driving an hour away during rush hour to pick up this heavyyyyy dresser. I wish I had pictures of us loading this thing into my Jeep. We had to put it half in the Jeep without the drawers and put the drawers back into it while my hubby held the dresser by himself. Did I mention it was at least 100 degrees out!? Love that man of mine. :]

Long story short...we put the new dresser in the entry way and we tackled the gallery wall I've been planning for months!

I wanted a gallery wall that we could grow with! It's definitely not permanent and I'm sure I will change a few things!

I don't have the greatest picture of the space as it looked on move in day...I could kick myself for not taking pictures of every room as it was before moving all our crap in!

Just a few odd things we had laying around. The table has been moved from house to house within my family and has some wonky legs. And a huge crack down the middle of the top piece. But it worked for a placement piece.

A couple of weeks ago I decided to add a stencil. I knew I wanted to do some kind of stencil on this wall and fell in love with this design. I printed the template from this tutorial at While They Snooze!

Anddddd here is the walll with the stencil, gallery wall and dresser! :]
I want to add a lamp and a few more prints on the lower part of the wall. And possibly spray paint the welcome sign yellow!

Our next project made a HUGE impact!
When we first came to look at the house I already knew it was going to be our house...the living room has 7 windows and lets in a lot of natural light. We loved that! We did not love the darknotourtaste curtains!

Not the greatest picture but you get the idea. Now we loved the way the previous owners decorated the windows but at 14 yes fourteen panels...we needed to save some money before replacing all the panels. Curtains ain't cheap y'all! I looked everywhere. I thought about just buying fabric and making my own. I thought about buying white ones and painting them. THEN I found out Target has a new line and found curtains for $19.99 a panel! Not cheap but definitely cheaper than all my other ideas.

It feels so much brighter in here. We are only half way done replacing the curtains...the old curtains had sheer curtains behind all the panels and above swooping over another rod. We plan to add white sheer curtains eventually.

But for now the room is brighter and definitely more us!

A better view of the pattern and color! They match the clock above the mantle perfectly!

Happy home=happy wife!

Long over due-

Well...it's been over a year since my last post. I'm going to blame it on life

A lot has happened in the last year...
I moved back to Dallas without my husband to go back to community college.
I lived with my Granny for 3 months and missed my hubby like crazzzzy!
Once he moved here and we moved into an apartment,
I dropped out of school.
I hated it! I knew it wasn't where I was supposed to be.
Adam asked me what I wanted to do for the rest of my life...
I told him I wanted to be a mommy.
And a hair stylist.

So we toured a few beauty schools and I choose Ogle.
In April '12 I started cosmetology school.
From day one I knew this was it.
This is where I needed to be.
I loved every minute.
I graduated in February of '13.
The day I graduated we also become first time home owners!!!!

Here I am holding the keys to the house and my diploma!
(I will update the home tour button soon)!
We have been doing a lot around the house making it feel like a home!

I started working in a salon in downtown Frisco
but it wasn't that right job for me.
I did however meet Ginger while I was working there.
Ginger and I both went to Ogle and decided to open our own salon!
So Created By Faith Salon was born.
We've been open for almost a month and love every second of this journey!
So if you're in the Frisco area look us up and come get your hair done!

I am hopeful that I will continue writing!
So stay tuned. :]

lately...

lately i have been feeling so blah about blogging.
i'd much rather read some of my favorite blogs
than write myself.
i'm going to try to at least post once a week.

things have been a little crazy since i last posted.
december was busyyyy!
i was packing up the apartment.
but while packing, i was packing for dallas.
we went to dallas for christmas,
but we knew i would come BACK to dallas two weeks later.
i had to go back to atlanta to have a procedure done.
the procedure did not go as planned and i ended up staying in the hospital a few days.
and then feeling worse when i finally got to go home.
while i was at home i knew i needed to finish packing.
see, i was leaving on the 9th to MOVE to dallas. all by myself.
so while i was packing all my stuff that i didn't need,
i was also packing everything i did need.

so if you haven't figured it out,
we're moving back to texas!
i came early to start school.
we did not want me to miss another semester,
so i'm in dallas and adam is still in atlanta. :[
we believe the moving date will be march 31st!
so we'll be moving on my birthday weekend! holla.

we're beyond excited to finally be coming home!
